April 27, 2015

HEY!! Everything is going a little better, but not a whole lot of improvement! On the bright side my Spanish is getting a lot better. I am now able to hold a conversation for a long time and as well as teach lessons, so that is going great!

My Birthday was good. At Zone Conference President Batt and all the missionaries sang to me, it was pretty cool, but weird at the same time! The Palfreymans came over and sang Happy Birthday and brought me cake and at Zone Conference we took 3rd for the cleanest truck!

So something funny this week that happened was when we were filling up our truck with gas on Friday, there was this motor home that was selling any kind of stickers that you can think of.  So we went and just checked it out and there was this old guy who was looking for a certain sticker. He started talking to us and started asking why we thought we could add to the Bible when it clearly states in revelations that you can not add to the Bible.  So I was talking to him and proved his point wrong like 5 times but still didn't listen to me. Then I hear Elder Jensen say," I know that I haven't read the bible and I am going to hell!!!" and yes he yelled that.  So I continue to keep talking to him and then after we were getting ready to leave the guy says "put the book of Mormon down and find the real Jesus" so Elder Jensen then yells "Have a good day sir"  and as soon as we get in the truck he says I messed up and I just went "yep, yes you did. Then yesterday we saw were that guy lived and so Elder Jensen wanted to apologize so he did! That was the fuuny thing this week.

We also had stake conference as well, it was really good! That was really about everything for this week!

Oh and shaving is getting to be a pain so maybe if you can get a chance an electric razor would be awesome but if not that is totally fine! I don't have any new pictures this week but next week!

HEY!! It is going better here. I am getting more comfortable with the language and I am starting to pick up on it a lot faster than I thought that I would!! We actually got a family on date last night and that was way cool. It is for the 30th of May so hopefully they stay on! They pray and read every night and doing everything to be baptized besides church but this week or next they will come! On Thursday I actually have Zone Conference and I wont be able to open them (my presents) one every hour because it lasts from 8:30-4:30 so it is a pretty long training! Haha, but here is a pic of us and some cool cars we were able to see!

April 14

Easton didn't have a lot to say this week.  Just that's it been really busy training his new companion Elder Jensen from Rupert, Idaho.  Here's just a little of what he said this week:

Hey! This week has been really good and i am picking up on the language a lot faster now! Some of our investigators and members have noticed and said I am on my fast track to becoming fluent now, so that is really good to hear! To answer your questions about birthday, really anything, a new watch would be nice and ties but that is all that i can really think of right now haha, Love ya !

I also just got this pic on facebook from Elder Jensen's mom. Easton's first companion as him being the trainer.

April 6, 2015

Hey! So some pretty crazy stuff happened for transfers this week and I am kind of freaking out and super nervous for the next six weeks! I was called to be a District Leader and that is very rare for some one to be less then seven months out and be one so that is crazy.  The craziest thing is I am also training a new Spanish elder who is as white as me and from Idaho who doesn't speak ANY Spanish so that is going to be a trial in its self!! so I am not so sure what to do right now!!

This past weekend was fantastic and yes I tried to concentrate on conference but it was hard after getting that news haha!! But I loved conference and it made the weekend fly by so that is good and it did keep me distracted from it! But just barely. I had a prayer answered by Kenzie Gardner! I am kind of freaking out about training and district leader and then I read her email and this is what it said,

Easton Richy how the heck are you?? I saw your mom today and it made me think of ya! I hope you're doing well. I know you're kicking butt out there. I'm positive that you're the best missionary New Mexico has ever seen! I'm leaving may 27 for Alabama! I'm excited to serve but also pretty scared. I hope I'm making the right decision! I'm sure it's going to be great!
Anyway, I just thought I'd send a quick hello and see how things are going.
This is my fav scripture and I thought you might like it too!
"Fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God; yea I will strengthen thee; yea I will help thee; yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
Isaiah 41:10

So this scripture helped me and I am very grateful how the Lord works and it is crazy!!

My new companion's name is Elder Jensen.  Oh and I need to get some boots. We are doing a lot of service here in Bloomfield.  Nothing to picture worthy this week, but I promise next week!

March 30, 2015

Not a lot of info today from Elder Richards, but tons of pics.
Just a road that they drive all the time.
 Just a view.
 On top of a mesa.
 This is where they tract.
On the edge of the mesa.

Elder Richards and Lixander.  This is the baptism that Elder Richards was able to go back to Farmington for.

And this is their home.  Don't you love the beautiful green grass?

Thank you for the package!! Tell Kinley great job on her solo!! The baptism was really cool and I am glad that we were able to go an support him! Everything here is going great, transfers are next week and this Saturday we will know where we are going.  I am pretty sure I am getting a new companion because Elder Oakley has been here for 10 1/2 months which is a long time for any Elder.  But everything is going great! Sorry that I can't think of anything for Easter or my birthday except for maybe paisley ties.  I'm good on socks, so don't send any more of those.  Thanks for everything and have a great week.

March 23, 2015

Thank you for the St. Patricks package it was nice and in the next one can you just send a lot of peach and mango Hi-Chews? I forgot how good they were! Also, are my gray shoes in the package that you are sending?? Thank you again!

Everything is going great and this week my investigator in Farmington is getting baptized and President Batt is letting me go to it so that is really exciting! The family that you asked me about if they had committed, we were not able to invite them this week, because it didn't feel right but we are shooting for this week hopefully!!

I didn't know that Kenzie Gardner had gotten her mission call! You will have to let me know how Kinley does on her first solo competition this week! How is holden and his wrestling?? I will email him today!

Here are a couple of pics for you.  The first one is a shrine of Mary! you see these everywhere, this is probably the best one

March 16, 2015

Everything is going great and we had a baptism last Saturday!! That was really cool! She is 9 and her mom and dad just got baptized 3 months ago! Her dad was ordained a Priest and was able to baptize her! That was probably the coolest part. Here are some pictures from the baptism! Last Tuesday we were asked by a member to help them drown a skunk so that was fun! He called us saying he has got a skunk and wanted our help! So we helped him and after he fed us lunch! Later that same day we went to go and try a referral from the Sisters. When we got there, this dog was staring at us and started going crazy to the point he was trying to bite us! We got up the stairs and shut the gate and he went under the house. After we knocked a couple of times, we started down the stairs and Elder Oakley went first but the dog didn't come out and I was behind him because I had to shut the gate. I started down the stairs and he didn't come out and then I turned around and he was coming around the back way behind the porch and started running after me and he almost got me before I got into the truck! But luckily I got in on time haha!

But all in all I am doing great! My Spanish is getting a lot better! Because I actually have to use it a lot more now, so that is good! We are probably going to a members home or even one of our investigators home for General Conference! But we have this one family and they are doing amazing and we are hoping to put them on date this week, but it all depends on if they go to church this week.

To answer your question about how many missionaries there are here, there are only 6 missionaries in Bloomfield! And tell Kinley that Sister Jesse is in my district. But thank you for everything that you have done and here are a few pictures as well!! Love you guys!

-Elder Richards
and Tambien que tengan una maravillosa semana y gracias por las todas cosas!
(you all have a great week and thank you for all things)

Also, here is a quote I really like:
Fun is self-centered
Happy is others centered
Joy is Christ centered.

This is the street that Easton lives on.  Yes I was google earth stalking.  The building on the left is where he emails from :)

And sadly the computer wasn't working to send his pics.  They wouldn't attach :(
